NOE R. GARZA
EDINBURG - Noe R. Garza, 91, entered eternal rest Monday, January 11, 2016, at Altus Hospice in Sugar Land, Texas.
Noe was born in Weslaco, Texas, to Eloisa Rodriguez and Pantaleon Garza, and has lived in Edinburg since his marriage to Josefa Reyes in 1950. He later moved to Sugar Land to live with his only daughter, Noelia, and her husband, Luis Longoria.
Mr. Garza joined the US Navy and proudly served his country during WWII. Upon his return, he attended Edinburg Junior College where he obtained his title of Master Electrician and opened his own business, Noe R. Garza Electric Co.
"Work" to Noe meant not only helping others as best he could, but also a chance to visit, socialize, and share a good cup of coffee, story, joke or funny experience with his customers.
His second home was his church, El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, where he served in numerous capacities, including: Sunday School Teacher, Church Trustee, member of Administrative Board, Council of Ministries, delegate to district and annual conferences, and Treasurer of the United Men. Noe became a fixture of the church community, and it was through his involvement and service to the church that many of his lifelong friendships were made.
Mr. Garza is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josefa; a grandson, Aaron Longoria; and two brothers, Saul and Rene Garza.
He is survived by his daughter, Noelia (Luis) Longoria; a grandson, Philip (Jessica) Longoria; a granddaughter, Julia Longoria; a brother, Sam Garza of Weslaco; a sister, Nora Delva Guzman of Ft. Worth; and several nieces and nephews of whom he often mentioned with pride.
Also surviving are his wife's numerous relatives, each of whom embraced him as a part of their family and will be forever grateful for his devotion to and loving care of his wife during her illness.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, January 14, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg.
