SAN JUAN - Nora L. Garza, 56, was granted her angel wings on March 10, 2012.
She was one of five children born to the late Jesus Israel Vargas and Raquel G. Vargas and was the beloved wife of Luis Z. Garza.
Born in McAllen, Nora had lived in San Juan most of her life. After high school, she started her 38-year career in insurance, working for Pharr Insurance, San Juan Insurance, and was currently employed by IBC Insurance Agency. Nora was an active member in the ACTS community and a member of the Pharr Rotary Club.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jesus Israel Vargas; and her in-laws, Zacarias H. Garza and Olivia C. Garza.
Nora is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Luis Z. Garza, of San Juan; two children, Luis Eduardo Garza, of Alamo, Rita Marie Garza, of McAllen; two grandchildren, Ryan Cole Garza and Tzofiyah Garza; her mother, Raquel Vargas, of San Juan; and four sisters, Vilma Vargas, Sally (Oscar) Sandoval, both of Pharr, Rachel (Frank) Wall, of San Antonio, Texas, and Valerie (Mario) Cardenas, of San Juan.
Nora touched the lives of so many people with her smile and generosity, and always maintained a sense of humor that was known by all. She will forever be remembered by her love of listening to music, laughing, dancing, spending time with her family and having fun with her friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, March 12, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
