ROBERTO E. GARZA
EDINBURG – Roberto E. Garza, 93, died Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Amara Hospice Inpatient Facility in Edinburg.
Born in Allende, Nuevo Leon, Mr. Garza had lived in Houston and then moved to Edinburg in1951. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and, together with his wife Jovita, were owners of Magnolia Bakery in Edinburg.
Roberto is preceded in death by his wife, Jovita Garza; a daughter, Irma Olivarez; his parents, Manuel and Luisa Garza; and three sisters, Adela Aguilar, Alicia Sanchez, Ofilia Garza.
Mr. Garza is survived by ten children, Rose Mary (Robert) Avila, Robert (Yolanda) Garza Jr., Rachel (Alejandro) Garcia, Rodolfo (Ofilia) Garza, all of Edinburg, Rolando (Alma) Garza of McAllen, Yolanda Garza, Roy (Laura) Garza, Melinda Garza, Rebecca (Raul) Guzman, Ernesto (Denora) Garza, all of Edinburg; 28 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a son in law, Juan (Janie) Olivarez of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
