EMIGDIO D. GOMEZ
McALLEN - Emigdio D. Gomez, 89, died Friday, March 26, 2010 at his residence in McAllen.
Born in Durango, Mexico, Mr. Gomez was formerly of Sterling, Illinois and had lived in McAllen since 1983. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen.
He is preceded in death by a son, Emilio Gomez.
Mr. Gomez is survived by his beloved wife Alejandrina Gomez, and 13 children, Modesto (Santos) Gomez of Palmview, Ernesto (Cuper) Gomez of Sterling, Il., Juan (Gloria) Gomez of McAllen, Rejinaldo (Letty) Gomez of Sterling, Il., Alicia (Isauro) Castillo of Sterling, Il., Emma (Juan A.) Valdivia of Sterling, Il., Carmen (Pedro) Sifuentes of McAllen, Manuel (Lupita) Gomez of San Juan, Betty (Delfino Jr.) Salinas of Edinburg, Chano (Mary) Gomez of McAllen, Nena (Pablo) Rodriguez of McAllen, Cuca (Joe) Molina of McAllen, and Mona (Francisco) Hernandez of Pharr; 51 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and three brothers, Rafael Gomez, Jesus Gomez, both of Reynosa, Tamps., Mexico and Pedro Gomez of Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, March 28, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 29, 2010 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Virginia Diaz and Lupita Gonzalez, along with his nurses for all their special attentions.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
