HILDA GLORIA RAMIREZ GOMEZ SAN JUAN – Hilda Ramirez Gomez, 80, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. She was born in Kenedy, Texas and was a lifelong resident of San Juan. Her life was dedicated to her family and grandchildren whom she adored. She attended PSJA High School, was an active member and officer of the Bearette drill team and participated on the PSJA softball team. She enjoyed rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. She looked forward to her weekly card and lotería games as well as her trips to Las Vegas and Louisiana with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfredo and Carlota Ramirez of Pharr. Hilda is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Marcos Gomez, daughter and sons: Ada Gomez of San Juan, Alfredo “Fred” (Mari) Gomez of College Station, Noel (Mary Lou) Gomez of Pharr. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Houston (Nancy), Victoria, Austin, Gonzalo, and Anica Gomez; three sisters: Olga (Robert) Montez of San Antonio, Gracie (Rosalio) Sanchez of Houston, Irene Ramirez of Tyler; and two brothers: Samuel (Diana) Ramirez and Alfredo R. Ramirez of Irving. Visitation will be held today, February 6, 2013, from 4 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm Thursday, February 7, 2013 at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Bertha and Rosa, as well as the Gomez and Ramirez Families for their loving care. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
