SAN JUAN – Maria Luisa Gomez, 82, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Mrs. Gomez was born in San Juan and lived there all her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raul Gomez; her parents, Juan Angel and Mercedes Garcia; two sisters, Humbelina Cantu and Thelma Gonzales.
Mrs. Gomez is survived by her six children, Elma (Ramon) Hernandez, of Pharr, Ricardo Gomez, of Arroyo City, Texas and spouse Alicia Gomez, of Buda, Texas, Raul Rolando (Brenda Marie) Gomez, of Edinburg, Leonel (Silvia) Gomez, of Alamo, Laura Angelica Gonzalez, of Pharr, Roel (Christina) Gomez, of Mansfield, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Denise Ariana Hernandez, Gabriel Omar Hernandez, Cynthia Ilyana (Ryan) Herzog, Claudia (Brent) Harmon, Roland (Debra) Gomez, Christopher Gomez, Erik Leonel, Nadya Melissa Gomez, Stephanie Elise Gonzalez, Dana Marie, Roel "Rusty", Doel Esai Gomez; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Anthony, Jennifer Denise, Mark Andrew Gomez, Jaxon, Jude Harmon, Natalie and Brody Herzog; a brother, Plinio (Maria) Garcia of San Juan; and a sister, Ofilia Quintanilla of San Juan.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 16, 2012, from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
