EDINBURG – Aaron Ruben “Ronnie” Gonzalez entered into eternal rest at the age of 58 on Friday, August 2, 2013, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He is preceded in death by his father, Uvaldo Gonzalez; and a brother, Uvaldo David Gonzalez. He was born in Rio Grande City, Texas on August 21, 1954, and had lived in Edinburg most of his life. Ronnie attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Rio Grande City High School in 1972. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a major in Animal Science from Texas A&I University in Kingsville in 1975. Ronnie treasured his time with his family and friends. Those around him loved to listen to his adventurous stories, while barbecuing and tailgating at UT games. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a leader and businessman but the most prestigious title he had was “Dad.” He was a wonderful father to his sons and daughter and instilled great values in them. Ronnie’s generosity did not end with those he loved; his career enabled him to help his employees and clients alike. Throughout the years, Ronnie worked at USDA Rural Development, Mercedes National Bank and was contracted with other Texas banks. He was the owner of A.A. Genesis Investment Company and was currently employed at Elsa State Bank as the Executive Vice President. Ronnie will be greatly missed. His legacy will live on through all those who share his stories. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Naomi Lantz Gonzalez; his mother, Beulah G. Gonzalez; four sons, Aaron L. Gonzalez, Eric M. (Michelle) Gonzalez, Hiram X. Gonzalez, Marco A. (Melissa) Gonzalez ; and his beloved daughter, Evanna M. Gonzalez; as well as his only granddaughter, Ashlyn Rae Gonzalez; siblings, Rolando N. Gonzalez and Nannette (Ernesto) Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary today, August 5, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
