CARMEN GONZALEZ
ALAMO- Carmen Gonzalez, 101, went home to our Lord Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at her residence in Alamo.
Born in Edinburg, she lived in Alamo most of her life. Carmen was a family oriented woman that dedicated her life to her family and God. She enjoyed a Christian life and social gatherings with friends. Her charming charisma and smile will be missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband who she married in September of 1936, Jorge Gonzalez; a daughter, Carmen Hernandez; and a grandson, Rene Gorena Jr.
Carmen is survived by five children, Graciela (Gabriel) Vega of Brownsville, Irma Gorena of Alamo, Hortencia (Humberto) Fuentes of Nampa, Id, Jorge Jaime Gonzalez of San Juan, Belinda (Juan) Rojas of Austin; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Lazaro F. Alvarez of San Jose, CA; a sister, Minerva Cantu of San Juan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.
