HUGO ROLANDO GONZALEZ McALLEN - Hugo Rolando Gonzalez, 69, died Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Solara Hospital in McAllen. Born in McAllen, Mr. Gonzalez had lived there since 1989 and was formerly of Pharr. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Mr. Gonzalez was a band director at McAllen, P-SJ-A, Sharyland, and Mission ISD for a total of 33 years. He was UIL Region 15 Music Executive Secretary for 30 years and was recently honored by the Rio Grande Valley Band Directors Hall of Fame with the James R. Murphy Award for his support of valley bands through UIL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Martina Gonzalez. Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his wife, Oralia Gonzalez, of McAllen; three children, Hugo Dax (Laura) Gonzalez, of Austin, Vito Adrian (Leslie) Gonzalez, of El Paso, Gia Monique Gonzalez, of Frisco; a grandson, Hugo Cruz Gonzalez, of Austin; two sisters, Yolanda Lopez, of Arlington , Virginia Flores, of Grand Prairie; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, August 7, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
