MARIA DE LA LUZ "LULU" GARCIA GONZALEZ
EDINBURG - Maria De La Luz "Lulu" Garcia-Gonzalez; 78 of Edinburg passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011.
Lulu was born August 8, 1932 in San Manuel, Texas to Aureliano and Concepcion Garcia. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Arnoldo Gonzalez, Sr.; four brothers, Guadalupe, Ignacio, Noe, Octavio and Armando Garcia; and three sisters, Altagracia Medina, Olivia Diaz and Ester Garcia.
She is survived by three children, Elma Edna (Jorge) Gonzalez-Barrientos, Jorge Alberto (Cynthia) Gonzalez, both of Edinburg and Arnoldo (Leticia) Gonzalez, Jr. of McAllen; a stepdaughter, Ursula Katarina (Lothar) Eger of Germany; seven grandchildren, Nicole Margarete (Thomas) Helbig, Rebecca Carin Gorena, Arnoldo Noe Gonzalez, Veronica Isabel Gonzalez, Alyssa Victoria Gonzalez, George Michael Gonzalez, Miranda Miah Gonzalez; a step-granddaughter, Barbara Barrientos; and two great granddaughters, Madeline and Chantal Helbig.
Grandma Lulu, as everyone, young and old, affectionately called her, leaves behind a wonderful legacy of family of friends brought together by her unfailing example of faith, courage and hope. Her love and our memories will live in our hearts forever.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all family and friends, her home-health agencies, Angelical Home Health and First Choice Home Health. We are especially indebted to her physician Dr. Norma Cavazos-Salas and her personal caretaker, Jacinta Vargas, not only for their professional services and care, but for their kindness and compassion when medicine reached its limits.
We ask you to join us as we celebrate Lulu's life.
A rosary was held Friday, June 10, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., today, June 11, 2011 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in San Manuel. Interment will follow at El Rucio Cemetery in San Manuel.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
