ALAMO - Maria Estela Gonzalez, 83, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Guardado, Mexico, Mrs. Gonzalez had lived in Alamo most of her life. She was a member of San Pablo Methodist Church in Alamo. Mrs. Gonzalez was a devoted, loving wife and mother who cared very much for her family. We take comfort knowing she is now at peace and with her husband.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Reymundo Gonzalez, Sr.; a son, Ernesto Gonzalez; her parents, Matias and Elmina Villarreal; and three brothers, Ernesto Villarreal, Mauro Villarreal and Federico "Paco" Villarreal.
Mrs. Gonzalez is survived by two sons, Reymundo "Raymond" (Sandra) Gonzalez, Jr. of Pharr, Felix (Pat Markintel) Gonzalez of Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Gonzalez of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lauro Villarreal of Richmond, Texas, Amanda Castillo of Houston, Texas, Carmen Barrera of Los Angeles, Mexico, Roel Villarreal of Bryan, Texas and Raquel Escobar of Alvin, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Friday, January 8, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
