EDINBURG – Orfelinda Gonzalez, 70, passed away at her residence in Edinburg, Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Catalina Longoria; three sisters, Ludivina Cruz, Rosa Imelda Longoria, Catalina Longoria; two brothers, Gilbert Longoria, Baltazar Longoria.
Orfelinda is survived by her husband, Jesus M. Gonzalez; three daughters, Maggie (Eddie) Salinas, Elva (Rudy Ochoa) Garza both of Edinburg and Juanita (Roman Rodriguez) Gonzalez of McAllen; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Bertha De Los Santos, Alma Callsen, Maria Crabtree, Imelda Soto all of Idaho and Margarita Villarreal of McAllen; one brother Elias Longoria, Jr. of Idaho.
Orfelinda “Chora” truly enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She especially enjoyed baking her delicious empanadas and her “pan de anis”. She absolutely enjoyed spending time in the casinos with her loving husband of 53 years.
Orfelinda ran her own business, The Sno Hut, which she ran for 18 years of her life. It was here where she found her passion, serving her customers. She truly made a positive impact on every customer she encountered with her beautiful inspiring words and not to mention, her beautiful contagious smile.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Friday, June 30, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
