PEDRO A. “PETE” GONZALEZ SAN ANTONIO — Pedro Antonio “Pete” Gonzalez, 80, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. Born in Laredo, Texas on January 17, 1935, Mr. Gonzalez graduated from Rio Grande City High School in 1954. He received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and a master’s degree in education from Texas A & I in Kingsville. He taught with the Rio Grande City CISD for over 35 years and worked with adult education programs under Region One ESC. He was affectionately known by students and colleagues as “P. A.” After retirement, he moved to San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Gonzalez and Angelica Villarreal. Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his soul mate, Sylvia Corina Gonzalez of San Antonio, two sons, Pedro A. (Amelia) Gonzalez, Jr. of Weslaco and Alejandro Jesus Gonzalez of Mission; four daughters, Cynthia G. (Javier) Perez, Angelica C. (Carlos) Maldonado, both of Edinburg, Patricia Yvonne (Jaime) Perez of McAllen, and Adelfa Rebecca Gonzalez of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Domitila S. Gonzalez. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, April 19, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
