RAUL J. "ROY" GONZALEZ
EDINBURG - Raul J. "Roy" Gonzalez, 84, went home to our Lord Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Mr. Gonzalez was born in Cuero, TX and lived in Edinburg most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Korean War and was the owner of Royal Palms RV Park in Edinburg.
He is preceded in death by a son, Robert Gonzalez; his parents, Vidal and Juliana Gonzalez; and a sister, Margarita Luna.
Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his loving wife, Rosa Estella Gonzalez; seven sons, Raul J. Gonzalez, Jr., Roland (Elda) Gonzalez, Jay (Lacy) Gonzalez, Ponciano (Marisol) Salinas, Jr., Raul (Neshme) Salinas, Robert (Erica) Flores, Jr.; four daughters, Elsa Gonzalez, Cynthia (Gaylon) Newsome, Aracelis (Robert) Rendon, Marisela (Leo) Kalifa; three siblings, Francisco (Aurora) Gonzalez, Cecilia Leal, Stella Van Aken; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Military honors will be conducted by VFW post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
