SAN JUAN- Raul Jaime Gonzalez, 73, went home to our Lord Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at McAllen Medical Center.
Mr. Gonzalez was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Raul enjoyed the outdoors, BBQ's with his family, deer hunting, carpentering birdhouses, and stools. In his spare time, he also enjoyed walking his dog Tosca and taking care of Champ. He dedicated his life to his beloved wife and family. Raul will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raul and Guadalupe Gonzalez.
Raul is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Nora Nelia Gonzalez of San Juan; two children, Roel (San Juanita) Gonzalez of McAllen, Criselda (Mark) Jeffus of San Juan; five grandchildren, Helena, Juliette, Laura Gonzalez, Marco A. Pena, Aaron Z. Hernandez; three siblings, Rosalva Martinez of Pharr, Maximo (Lilia) Gonzalez of Houston, Ester (Jesus) Molina of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Saturday, October 13, 2018, and from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
