SOCORRO GONZALEZ
SAN JUAN - Socorro Gonzalez, 84, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Solara Hospital in McAllen.
Born in General Teran, N.L., Mexico, Mrs. Gonzalez had lived in San Juan most of her life. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan where she was a member of Legion of Mary. She was also a member of Catholic Women's Association, a eucharistic minister at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle, a member of American Legion Post 101 of Pharr Auxiliary and a communion minister at McAllen Medical Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donato and Petra Jimenez; four sisters, Angelica Reyes, Fela Jimenez, Herminia Villagomez, Pilar Hernandez; a brother, Anselmo Jimenez; a niece, Cruzita Hernandez; and a nephew, Jose Orlando Hernandez, Jr.
Mrs. Gonzalez is survived by her husband, Erasmo Gonzalez; a daughter, Leticia (Fred Trevino) Torres; a granddaughter, Susie Torres; a brother, Toribio Jimenez, all of San Juan; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm with a 7 pm rosary, today, April 22, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 11 am, Thursday, April 23, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
