ALAMO- Eduardo “Lalo” Gorena, Sr., 75, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Mr. Gorena was born in Hargill and had lived in Alamo most of his life. He was a member of Los Wesleyanos United Methodist Church since 1990. Lalo never went to school yet he could read between the lines. His saying was to have a good friend is to be one yourself. He never met a stranger, he was a friend to everyone he met. He loved his family and church family. Mr. Gorena used to recall his childhood very often and his greatest regret was not being able to read or write. However, he went through life just being himself and working hard all of his life. Often would Lalo remember his mother’s saying, “nomas sean limpios y buena gente”. That paid off in time. Eduardo used to say that when he got to heaven he had a lot of work to do, like welding the gates in heaven, that’s why he needed to wear jeans and be ready. Now he is in rest and free of all pain. Lalo will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
I have fought that good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept my faith. -2 Timothy 4:7
