Guadalupe Garza Barrera

Guadalupe Garza Barrera, 89, passed away on Saturday, January, 25, 2025, at her residence in Edinburg, Texas. She was born on December 12, 1935 in Raymondville, Texas.
Guadalupe is preceded in death by her husband, Rene Villarreal Barrera; her parents, Agustin Solomon Garza and Aurora Flores Garza.
She is survived by her seven children, Rene (Norma) Barrera Jr., Cynthia Barrera Uresti, Leticia Barrera, Joel Javier "Jay" Barrera, Agustin E. "Pinio" Barrera, Melissa A. Barrera (Rene) Avila, Michelle R. Barrera (Mark) Rodriguez; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She lived and raised her children in San Manuel, Texas and later moved to San Antonio, Texas. Guadalupe attended Brewster Elementary School and graduated from Edinburg High School. She also attended Incarnate Word in Brownsville, Texas.
Guadalupe will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and relatives. May she rest in eternal peace. "We love you mom/Gigi."
Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. memorial service and rosary Friday, January 31, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Interment of cremated remains will take place at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
