SOCORRO GUARDIOLA
PHARR - After a courageous fight with cancer for the past 10 years Socorro Reyna Guardiola, 78,surrounded by her loving family entered eternal peace on Saturday, December 23, 2017.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, sons-in-law and step son: Hilda (John), Norah (Tommy), Zelina , Wilma (Arturo) and Robert (Mary Lou); as well as being tremendously missed by her 8 grandchildren who were her pride and joy and lovingly called her their Nana: Clarissa (Tyreese), GJ, Haron, Manuel (Tania), Amber, Artie, Adrian (Felicia) and Alyssa as well as Nana’s “ray of sunshine” her great grandson Darian.
Socorro is also survived by her loving brothers and sister; Juan (Mini), Raul (Kelly), Mario (Norma) and Gloria Reyna as well as many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents Cipriano and Maria Reyna, her brothers Gustavo and Daniel Reyna and her husband Domingo “Polo” Guardiola.
Socorro will be remembered as a strong willed woman of faith who took pride at her job in the Special Education Dept. at PSJA School District for 30 years. She became a widow at the age of 34 years old raising her daughters all on her own.
She implemented strong work values, she lived by example that “having faith in God, all is possible”, but most of all she emphasized the importance of family unity.
Her contagious smile, her humility, her generous heart, her unique sense of humor and most of all her unconditional love will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 9 pm, with a service at 7 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan, Texas. Funeral service will take place at 2 pm, Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Serving as pallbearers will be GJ Mendoza, Haron Guardiola, Manuel Garcia, Tyreese Lee, Arturo Hernandez, Artie Hernandez, John Rodriguez and Tommy Arce.
Family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heartfelt ways many have shown during this difficult time. Thank you all. Special thanks to the Compassion Hospice staff and to mommy’s caretakers especially Mari and Angelica. God bless you all.
