PHARR - William Carl Gunter Jr., 84, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Union Mississippi, Mr. Gunter had lived in Pharr for 12 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II.
Mr. Gunter is preceded in death by his parents, William Carl Gunter Sr. and Audie Lee Gunter; a son, Darrell Gunter; a brother, Robert Gunter; and a sister, Wiladeen Baugh.
William is survived by his wife, Cristina G. Gunter of Pharr, Texas; a daughter, Glenda (Randy) Tuminello of Seattle, Washington; a son Stephen Paul Gunter of San Antonio, TX; 11 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Gloria) Gunter of Pearl, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012, at Church of Christ in Pharr. Interment will be follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Posts 8788 of McAllen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of Christ, 625 E. Sam Houston, Pharr, Texas 78577.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
