SAN JUAN - Leonel G. Gutierrez, 71, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Gutierrez was born in San Juan and had lived there all of his life.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Armando Gutierrez; a daughter, Sylvia Gutierrez; his parents, Octavio and Francisca Gutierrez; and his father-in-law, Jesus Bernal. .
Mr. Gutierrez is survived by his former spouse, Mariana Bernal Gutierrez, of San Juan; a son, Leonel (Judy) Gutierrez, Jr., of Alamo; four daughters, Yolanda Gutierrez, Belinda (Roy) Salinas, both of San Juan, Aurora (Rolando) Ramirez, of Donna, Brenda Gutierrez, of Mission; two sisters, Maria (Constancio) Castro, of Austin, Alicia Lomeli, of Harlingen; a brother, Jose (Carmen) Gutierrez, of Pharr; a sister-in-law, Martina Gutierrez, of San Juan; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, May 11, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 am Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Pallbearers will be Alfredo Molina, Sr., Randy Burnett, Rolando Ramirez, Hector Molina, Rolando Morgan, Jr., and Arturo Gutierrez.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
