ELIZABETH GUZMAN
EDINBURG – Elizabeth Guzman, 60, went to be with her Savior, Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Ms. Guzman was born in Edinburg and had lived there all of her life. She was a member of Abundant Grace Community Church in Edinburg. Ms. Guzman was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, sister and nurse. She was the ultimate caretaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Manuela Guzman; and a sister, Alicia Munoz.
Ms. Guzman is survived by her four children, Patricia (Eduardo Trujillo) Palacios and Ida (Eduardo Jr.) Vega both of Edinburg, Laura (Frank) Harrold of Edwardsville, Illinois, Israel (Ric Ancira) Palacios of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Irma Guzman, Esmeralda (Humberto) Garcia, Ofelia (Alfonso) Flores all of Edinburg, Texas and Maggie (Eli) Mata of Austin, Texas; a brother, Abelardo Mercado Jr. of Edinburg; Her aunt, Juanita Gonzalez of Port Lavaca, Texas; lifelong partner, Manuel Cantu, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm with a 7 pm prayer service today, December 22, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
The family of Ms. Guzman would like to thank the staff of Doctors Hospital at Renaissance for the care throughout her stay and especially to Dr. Satish E. Desai and Dr. Socrates Garrigos for their devoted care and compassion towards her.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
