BUDA - Ira Edward Haddock, Jr., 80 died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Kyle, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira Edward Haddock, Sr. and Ila Mae Haddock; and a brother, Jerry Allen Haddock.
Eddie is survived by three children, Kelly Haddock of Buda, TX, Kody Haddock, Kristy (Michele) Haddock, both of Kyle, TX; six grandchildren, Jordan Nicole (Jesus) Carranza, Kaylen Rebecca Gonzalez, Ethan Xavier Gonzalez, Jakob Everett Haddock- Scates, Gabriel Perez, Savannah Perez; and a great-grandchild, Elijah Nathaniel Santos.
Eddie was a member of the Edinburg High School graduating class of 1955. He spent 30 years working with Shell Exploration & Production (McCook) with the majority of his career working at the gas plant as Lease Operator in charge of Production. He also helped his father farm their many acres of citrus fruit trees across the Valley. Eddie’s greatest love in life were his daughters and family life. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his 3 K’s. If not with family, he could be found baiting a fishing pole or at the hunting lease with his beloved hunting buddies. Eddie was an avid golfer as well and could just as easily be found on the golf course swinging a golf club with his dear friend Pip. NASCAR was also a pastime; he would make his yearly trips to Daytona attending many Daytona 500 races with his bud Eldon.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Pallbearers are: Ethan X. Gonzalez, Jesus Carranza, Bob Gaston, Jr., Chuck Wills, Luis X. Gonzalez, Jr., Rollie Jimenez with Honorary Pallbearer Jakob Haddock-Scates.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
