Lyndale (Lyn) E. Hendrickson, 82, of Glenwood Minnesota passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at his home in San Juan Texas. A memorial service is planned for this upcoming spring in Glenwood with details to be announced.
Lyn was born in Blue Mounds Township in Pope County on February 12, 1929, the son of Edwin and Evelyn Hendrickson (Berg). Lyn grew up on their family farm in Pope County. He attended a rural elementary school, High School in Glenwood, and attended Luther College in Decorah Iowa. Lyn was active in sports where he excelled in football, track, and baseball. His base stealing ability earned him the nickname "spider" when playing baseball for Glenwood. Lyn enjoyed lifelong friendships with many of his classmates and friends.
On April 1 1950 Lyn was united in marriage with Lucille Mae Kolstad, and the couple was blessed 3 children. In 1953 Lyn entered the United States Army where he served honorably for two years. The couple made their home in rural Glenwood where Lyn farmed for several years before beginning a career with Minnesota Valley Breeders Association. After retiring, the couple spent winters at their South Texas home travelling back to their beloved home on Lake Pelican during the summer months. Lyn will be remembered for his love of animals, especially his beloved Pug named Patsy, his many projects around the home, and his love of family and friends. Lyn and Lu were members of the Glenwood Lutheran Church.
Lyn is survived by his children; son Gregg of Pipe Creek TX, daughter Kim of Harlingen TX, son Jon of Lakeland MN, grandchildren; Cheryl and Shawn, great-grandchildren; Emma, Jackson, Heidi, Elaine, and special friend; Barbara Wegener. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Edwin, mother Evelyn and his wife Lucille.
