Henry John Billings, 93, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at his residence in Donna.
Henry loved the Valley. Growing up he spent a short time living in Smiley, Texas and then Mercedes, where he attended school. He and Mildred married and raised their three children in Edinburg. Because of his career of 46 years with Magic Valley Electric, they eventually moved to Donna where he enjoyed working outside in his shed and puttering in his small orchard. Every tool in his shed and every paper in his office had a place. He could tell you exactly where to find anything. Henry loved to work. In his early years, he also was an avid fisherman and hunter. He always had many stories about hunting and his grandchildren have been repeating those stories for the last few days.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Billings; a daughter, Connie Deloach; a grandson, Justin Deloach; and brothers Carroll, Eddie, and Dan Billings.
Mr. Billings is survived by two children, James C. Billings (Jackie), John Billings (Brenda); four grandchildren—Michael (Jen), Lori (Colby) Bryan (Jen), Matt (Bayli); ten great-grandchildren—Riley, Tyler, Emilie, Ella, Sydney, Audrey, Ethan, Ayden, Austin, and Ella; six siblings, Velma Dirks, Rosie Webber, Helen Lombard, Lillian Morava, Keith Billings, Gene Billings; and five caregivers, Lydia Escobedo, Danny Escobedo, Irma Escobedo, Darlene Romero, and Randy Romero. We are also so very grateful for everyone at Amavi Hospice who helped us the last seven months.
