EDINBURG - Irene Hernandez, 84, died July 1, 2016, at Mission Regional Medical Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raul Hernandez; a daughter, Georgina Alviar; her parents, Severo and Maria Reyna; and nine siblings.
Irene is survived by four children, Ruben (Teresa) Hernandez of Chicago, IL, Bertha (Mike) Velasquez of Harlingen, Beatriz Hernandez of Mission, Rolando (Saida Ortiz) Hernandez of Edinburg; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
"My grandmother was a wonderful person who spent her life dedicated to her family. She always prepared special meals, smiles, and prayers and was a blessing to us and others. She will be deeply missed and will always live in our hearts and will remain our special guardian angel always and forever. We will always love and honor you grandma."
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, July 7, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
