JUDGE ERNESTO "NETO" HERNANDEZ
SAN JUAN - Judge Ernesto "Neto" Hernandez, 78, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in McAllen.
Born in Alamo, Mr. Hernandez had lived in San Juan most of his life and was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hernandez was a municipal judge for the City of San Juan. He was a prominent business man and very active in his community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Felipa Hernandez; and two brothers, Erasmo and Eduardo Hernandez.
Mr. Hernandez is survived by his wife, Julia Hernandez of San Juan; two daughters, Iris (Robert Garza) Hernandez and Vilma (Ricardo) Ramirez, both of Pharr; three grandchildren, David Eric, Julissa Genevieve and Ricardo Ramirez, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Julianne Lauren Ramirez; two brothers, Elias Hernandez of Donna and Elijio Hernandez of Port Clinton, Ohio; and two sisters, Elda Quintanilla of Donna and Elva Gonzalez of Alamo.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, September 8, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 9 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 93 of Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
