OLIVIA R. HERNANDEZ
PHARR – Olivia R. Hernandez, 101, died Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at McAllen Nursing Center.
Born in Dr. Coss, Nuevo Leon, Olivia had lived in Pharr most of her life and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. In 1950, shortly after the death of her husband, she became a businesswoman and opened Olivia’s Tortilleria in Pharr. Olivia was very proud that through the success of her business she was able to help pay for her children’s college education.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio Hernandez; a son, Eloy Hernandez; and a son in law, Alberto Mancha Jr.
Olivia is survived by a daughter, Ela H. Mancha of Alamo; a son, Romeo (Ambarina) Hernandez of Palmhurst; a daughter in law, Diana Hernandez of Pharr; eight grandchildren, Eloy I. Hernandez, Mark Hernandez, Denise H. Palacios, Sandra Rodriguez, Alberto Mancha III, Erika Hernandez Perez, Justin Hernandez, and Travis Hernandez; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, December 7, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
