VICTOR HERNANDEZ McAllen — Victor Hernandez, 60, died Sunday, June 22, 2014. Born in Edinburg, Texas, Victor lived in Toledo, Ohio for most of his childhood and teenage years where he attended Macomber Whitney High School. There Victor won several art contests and his interest in becoming an architect piqued. Moving back to Pharr, Texas, Victor attended and graduated from Pan-American University in Edinburg where he obtained a degree in business/finance and began his career as an architect. Early on he switched careers to become a financial management consultant having owned several companies, the latest being iVisionis Business Consulting Services and Ensign Group. Victor was truly a modern day Renaissance man and had an insatiable quest for knowledge. Of the many subjects he studied, Chinese Boxing was his crowning achievement, having studied the internal arts of Kai Sai Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, Wing Chun and Wa Lu under the expert tutelage of Grandmaster Steve Alsup. Victor was also a student of the Word of God for many years as taught by Pastor Robert B. Thieme of Berachah Church, a non-denominational Christian church in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria Belia and Guadalupe Hernandez; and two brothers, Manuel and Juan Hernandez. Victor is survived by ten siblings, Guadalupe (Leslie) Hernandez Jr., of San Antonio, Helen Fox of Edinburg, Sylvia Rodriguez, Rosalinda Hernandez, Jose Born Hernandez, all of Toledo, Ohio, Annie (Lupe) Garcia of Detroit, Michigan, Martin (Ilenda) Hernandez, Monica Hernandez, Jesse L. Hernandez, all of Pharr and Bobby Born of Dallas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, June 29, 2014, and Monday, June 30, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
