Teodoro "Ted" Hinojosa Jr.

July 18, 1926 — May 29, 2012

TED HINOJOSA EDINBURG - For over 33 years, Ted was known as the proprietor of Latelle's, Inc. of Edinburg, Texas. He graduated from Rio Grande City High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he fought in World War II. Upon returning he received his Bachelors and Masters degrees at Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas. He became an educator and an administrator at La Joya ISD. He then moved to Edinburg to work for the Edinburg ISD in an administrative position, eventually becoming the Assistant Principal at Edinburg High School. After leaving Edinburg ISD, he worked with people with disabilities at the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. He loved the people and the community of Edinburg, and he served the city by participating in various boards and organizations. "One of the most memorable experiences occured in the mid-1960's, while visiting Houston, our family attended one of the Billy Graham Crusades. Our Dad was so moved that he walked to the front to accept Jesus Christ as Lord of his life, and this became the paradigm of his life," states his son Ted. No matter what church he humbly served in, whether Sunday school Teacher at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, elder at The Church of Good Shepard, or greeter at Baptist Temple Church, he was a faithful servant of the Lord. His favorite scripture was from the book of Isaiah 26:3, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee." Ted passed away Tuesday morning at his home. He was born in La Grulla, Texas on July 18, 1926, to his parents Teodoro and Carmen Pena Hinojosa.
