Louis F.  Hoehle

WESLACO - Louis F. Hoehle, 88, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at his residence in Weslaco.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie V. Hoehle; his parents, Louis and Myrtle Hoehle; and three sisters, Viola Westerhaus, Ruth Waring and Dorothy Hoehle.
Louis is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Herris of Weslaco and Linda (Charles) Fishel of Alamo; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Allgood, Heather Miller (Jeff Sivils), Jared (Ashley) Miller, all of Atlanta, GA, Jeffrey Herris Jr. of Arizona City, AZ; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Sivils of Atlanta, GA; a nephew, Donald (Shirley) Westerhaus of Indianapolis, IN; a niece, Dorothy (Wayne) Tessaro of St. James, MO; and numerous cousins and friends.
Louis was born on May 10, 1928 in St. Louis, Mo. After graduating from High School in June 1946, he proudly served the United States Navy and was stationed in Guam. On February 16, 1951, he married Rosalie Swofford. When they began RVing in 1968, they had the time of their lives. They were members of the Telephone Pioneer Family Campers for over 35 years which took them to many places in the U.S. and Canada. Louis was the Telephone Pioneer Family Campers International Wagon Master in 1982.
Louis worked for AT&T for over 36 years and received the Presidential Award from AT&T in 1983. Upon his retirement, the Mayor’s Office of the City of St. Louis proclaimed August 30, 1984 as Louis F Hoehle day in honor of his 36 years of service to AT&T.
He served as President of the Florissant, Mo. Rotary for 1965 and 1966.
Louis was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel on May 12, 1982 by the Governor & Secretary of State of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
He has been a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Alamo, TX for over 10 years.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Alamo. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
