ALBERTO “BETO” IBARRA EDINBURG — Alberto “Beto” Ibarra, 82, died Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Beto loved to play baseball, golf and watch the Dallas Cowboys. He played baseball in high school for the Edinburg Bobcats, Pan America College Broncs, and in the Army. Alberto was a long time educator and administrator with Edinburg CISD. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg, and previously taught CCD at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Beto was a member of the Crusillo Movement, “A Crusillista, de Colores”. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Yvette Elaine Ibarra; and a great-grandson, Jaime James Pulido. Mr. Ibarra is survived by his wife, Olga B. Ibarra; a son, Albert Xavier Ibarra; two daughters, Cynthia (Joel) Pulido, Debra (David) Cross, all of Edinburg; six grandchildren, Marissa, Joel, Jr., Jaime, Kaylee, Kimberly, Mayra ; and two great-grandchildren, Diego and Jaime Jr. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, April 21, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 93 of Mission. Pallbearers will be Arturo Pecina, Jr., David Cross, Jaime Pulido, Roel Pulido, Jose Luis Salinas, and Dr. Alejo Salinas. Honorary pallbearers will be Francisco Estevis and Romeo Diaz In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Carpenters Vision Campaign. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
