Irma Aida Perez

Irma Aida Perez, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, January 10, 2025, at her residence in Pharr after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. 

Irma was born on November 28, 1950 in Mercedes to Mariano and Angelita Espinoza. She graduated from PSJA High School in 1969 and completed a Bachelors of Education from the University of Texas Pan American. Irma dedicated decades to her passion for teaching with undeniable patience and warmth. She demonstrated the love of Jesus Christ and her love for others by volunteering her time to the Church, Sunday School, and always supporting those in need. Irma enjoyed gardening, reading, journaling, traveling, and always listening to music. 

Irma was bright, courageous, sincere, kind, hard working, and her strength showed us what we can accomplish with determination and persistence. She will be remembered for her contagious smile that would instantly brighten the world around her & an unwavering devotion to God, family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mariano and Angelita Espinoza.

Irma is survived by her husband of 54 years, Esequiel Perez of Pharr; four children, Ricardo (Carolina) Perez of McAllen, Rogelio (Heather) Perez of Humble, Bianca Arevalo of Pharr, and Katherine (Louis-Philippe) Burroughes of Houston; 12 grandchildren, Ricardo, Jr., Daniela Sofia, and Martin Emilio Perez; Ryan Martin, Rogelio David, Lauren Riley, Amelia Renee, and Gabriella Reese Perez; Carlos, Jr. and Alejandro Javier Arevalo; Olivia Clara and Henri Philippe Burroughes; one great-grandchild, Ryan Mateo Perez; and her five siblings, San Juanita Torres of Corpus Christi, Leonor Espinoza and Alejandra Garza, both of Pharr, Mariano Espinoza, Jr. and Hortencia Torres, both of San Antonio.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Parish in Pharr. Interment will follow at Magic Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
