Isabel "Chavela" McClaugherty

Isabel "Chavela" McClaugherty was called to be with her Lord and Savior on July 21, 2024 on her 81st birthday surrounded by her loving family.

Chavela was born and raised in Hargill, Texas and dedicated her life to her family, community and church. She loved and cared for her family, friends, and celebrated each of their milestones with great joy and love. She was an amazing cook, gardener and loved dancing with the love of her life - Ray Dell. Her legacy of kindness, compassion and service to her community and family will be remembered dearly and will live on in our hearts forever.

Isabel "Chavela" McClaugherty is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ray Dell McClaugherty; three children, Robert (Gloria) De Leon, Della (Weath) Bryant, Lee Ray (Jenny) McClaugherty; eight grandchildren, Dalinda (Elias) Moran, Robby De Leon, Taryn (Sean) Whitney, Worsham (Kaylee) Bryant, Roel De Leon, Tyler McClaugherty, Raymond De Leon, Brianna McClaugherty; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Moran, William Whitney, Bennett Bryant; a brother, Ramiro Cortez; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Leopoldo Dominguez, Sr. and Maria Jesusa Davila; siblings, Maria Aurora Davila, Eva Arredondo, Jose Leopoldo Dominguez, Jr., Leonel Dominguez, Sr., and Amparo Perez. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Friday, July 26, 2024, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valle De La Paz Cemetery in Hargill.

Pallbearers are Leo Dominguez, Jr., Robby De Leon, Worsham Bryant, Roel De Leon, Tyler McClaugherty and Raymond De Leon.
