Joel Iv Lopez Jr. gained his eternal reward Tuesday, August. 8, 2023.

Joel loved God and loved people!  He was a natural encourager, protector, prayer warrior, preacher, teacher, and friend to all.

His passion for people led him to a life of service in Special Education where he cared for students of all ages.  Most recently he served in Special Education at Reed-Mock Elementary.  Mr. Lopez was a voice for each child and a protector to them all.  His love for children poured into his church family where he served multiple ministries such as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher, security team, prayer warrior, and his most memorable role as a puppeteer “Flapjack” in which he ministered to children of all ages for the past 18 years.

In his spare time Joel loved to spend time with his family and friends especially hunting, fishing, or having a BBQ.  An avid outdoorsman, Joel spent many days enjoying the beauty of the outdoors with his wife, family and friends.  He could often be found helping those around him, or encouraging them with his infectious positivity and laughter. 

Joel was a devoted husband, brother, friend, and supporter to all those that he came around.  Joel loved his family, his church family, work family, and lived his live to help and uplift them all. 

Joel is preceded in death by his father, Joel Iv Lopez Sr.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Erica Lopez; his mother, Teresita Lopez; three siblings, Melissa (Alfredo) Saldivar, Daniel Lopez, Sarah (Michael) De Los Santos; two brothers-in-law, Eliazar (Brenda) Ramos, Jacob (Shelby) Ramos; as well as numerous nephews and nieces to include, Timothy Saldivar, Grace, David, Victoria and Hannah De Los Santos, Khloe, Gage, Theodore, and James Riley Ramos.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service Monday, August 14, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg.  A Celebration Service will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Greater Life Tabernacle Upc in Edinburg.  Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
