PHARR - Amelia H. Lara, 65, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Coahuila, Mexico, Mrs. Lara had lived in Pharr most of her life.
She is preceded in death by a son, Inocente Olvera; and her parents, Cipriano and Romana Hernandez.
Mrs. Lara is survived by her husband, Alberto Lara of Pharr; five daughters, Patricia (Isidro) Salinas of Dickinson, Texas, Yesenia Hernandez, Amelia (Raul) Hernandez, Cynthia Hernandez and Gladys (Carlos) Rodriguez, all of Pharr; two sons, Luis Enrique (Maria) Olvera of Galveston, Texas and Jose de Jesus (Liz) Hernandez of Estherville, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; a great-grandson; five sisters, Sara Saldivar of Dallas, Texas, Lilia Hernandez, Catalina Sepulveda, Rosa Hernandez, all of Pharr and Julieta Lavanzat of Reynosa, Tamps., Mexico.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, February 20, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2009 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
