McAllen - Rebecca S. Lara, 83, died Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
She was a member of the Legion of Mary for 37 years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of McAllen.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Micaela Silva; and two siblings, Ramiro Silva and Raquel Handy.
Mrs. Lara is survived by her husband, Francisco Lara of McAllen; eight children, Belinda (Marce) Elizalde, Felix (Nora) Lara, both of Alamo, Francisco (Melinda) Lara, Jr., of San Juan, Fernando (Melissa) Lara of Houston, Fidencio (Martha) Lara of Dallas, Fidel (Deborah) Lara, Fabian (Hilda) Lara, Fermin (Araceli) Lara, all of McAllen; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dominga Gutierrez and Tomasa (Guadalupe) Alaniz, both of McAllen.
Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
