It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Larissa Diane Harris, 20. A daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Larissa entered eternal rest on Friday, March 28, 2025, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Born in Edinburg, Texas, she graduated from Robert Vela High School and was attending St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.
Larissa is survived by her father, John Wayne (Yvette) Harris; her mother, Marla Diane (Robert) Valenzuela; siblings, Kaylah LeeAnn Harris (David Rodriguez), John W. Harris II, Emily Elizabeth Harris, Jared Masker and Kayden Masker; paternal grandparents, William and Elizabeth Harris; maternal grandparents, Wylie and Alda Rendon; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Larissa had a profound love for animals, including her cat, Charlie, and her dogs, Ollie, Rusty, Ford, Sissy and Ranger.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center for their unwavering love and care they provided Larissa during her lengthy illness. A special thanks to Dr. Waguespack, Dr. Herzog, Dr, Harden, Dr. Madden, Ursula NP, Beatriz NP, Rachel RN, Chandler RN, Ellie Vincent Social Worker, and all the wonderful staff that always made Larissa feel at home away from home.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a 6:00 p.m. rosary, Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission. Pallbearers will be Nicolas Harris, Jared Masker, Owen Cavazos, Bryan Segovia, Joey Recio and David Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearer is John Wayne Harris II.
The family would love everyone to wear purple, which is Larissa’s favorite color, as a way to honor her at her funeral.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
