PEDRO “PETE” LEAL EDINBURG — Pedro "Pete" Leal, 74, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at his residence in Edinburg. Mr. Leal was born in Edinburg and lived there all of his life. He enjoyed hunting, supporting his grandchildren in all their activities, gambling with his family in Louisiana, and playing bingo in San Antonio. He is preceded in death by his father, Nicolas Leal; his mother, Bernardina B. Leal; and a brother, Juan Leal. Pedro is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rosa Leal; three sons, Gerardo Leal of Edinburg, Eleazar (Sandra) Leal of Irving, TX, Eric (Melissa) Leal of Edinburg; two daughters, Leticia (Ruben) Cervantes of San Antonio, TX and Belinda (Domingo III) Cantu of Edinburg; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Jose B. Leal of Edinburg, Gilbert Leal of McAllen, Oscar Leal of Edinburg; five sisters, Hortencia Leal of Edinburg, Raquel Flores of San Manuel, Isaura Cisneros, Norma L. Casares, both of Edinburg, and Viola Hinojosa of San Isidro. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Pallbearers will be: Charlie Flores, Isaac Leal, Nicolas Leal, Fabian Cervantes, Julian P Leal, and David Leal. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
