Guadalupe V. Longoria

December 12, 1921 — January 17, 2015

GUADALUPE V. LONGORIA EDINBURG - Guadalupe "Lupita" Longoria entered eternal glory on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Arbor View Nursing Home in Edinburg, Texas. Lupita was born on December 12, 1921 in Mission, Texas to Arcadio and Cornelia Villarreal. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marcelino Longoria; her son, Mingito Longoria; her brothers, Cruz, Luis and Ramon Villarreal; her sisters, Esperanza Navarro, Juanita Guerra, Orfelina "Nina" Cerda, Elida "Lily" Garza, Marcela "Chela" Villarreal, Otila "Lela" Navarro; her son-in-law, Pete Guzman; and her great-granddaughter, Chanel Trevino Salinas. Mrs. Longoria is survived by her six children, Arturo (Jessie) Longoria, Alfonso (Susie) Longoria, Gloria (Sonny) Gonzalez, Margaret (Jose Palacios) Longoria, Irma (Pablo Ovalle) Guzman and Clarinda (Jabier Quintero) Longoria. She is also survived by her brothers, Arcadio and Robert Villarreal, Guadalupe (Mira) Coronado; and her sister, Antonia "Toni" (Joe) Robles. Also left to cherish her memory are her 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. After the untimely death of her beloved husband in 1962, Lupita became both mother AND father to her six children - the oldest at that time stationed in Germany with the United States Army and the youngest only two weeks old. Never thinking about herself, or giving herself time to mourn the loss of her husband, our dad, she dedicated the rest of her life to her family, a family she kept close to her heart. The good Lord gave her humble and extraordinary life, eternal value. The Dallas Cowboys have lost a true fan; she never missed watching them play and ignored all phone calls while they were playing. Her children, her extended family, and all who knew her, will forever miss her. The family wishes to thank Susie Longoria, the staff at Arbor View, the staff at Allstate Hospice, and all others who provided help and support to the family during the time of care, for their beloved mom. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, also in Edinburg. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons: Alfonso Javier "A.J." Longoria, Dennis Trevino, Cayetano "Tom" Trevino, Michael Espinoza, Antonio "Tony" Espinoza and Eric Espinoza. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
