JOSEPHINE “JODY” LONGORIA EDINBURG – Josephine “Jody” Longoria, 58, was called to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after a courageous battle with leukemia. Mrs. Longoria was born in Edinburg and lived there most of her life. She attended Edinburg High School and graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville. Jody was deeply involved with the community and Edinburg ISD, helping various organizations including 4H, FFA, Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show, FCCLA, and leading the Junior Class officers. She dedicated many years teaching at Johnny G. Economedes High School in Edinburg, which is what she loved to do. Mrs. Longoria enjoyed traveling, cooking, spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed quality time with her grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo Joseph and Dorothy May Dufour. Josephine is survived by her loving husband, Osvaldo Longoria, Jr.; two sons, Justin (Glenda) Longoria and Kyle Longoria; a grandson, Luke Joseph Longoria, all of Edinburg; three sisters, Laura (Bobby) Crist of Lakehills, TX, Adell Dufour of Edinburg, TX, and Norma (Ralph) Perez of Friendswood, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, January 16, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Memorial service will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. A reception will follow the burial at the Museum of South Texas History in Edinburg, TX. In lieu of flowers the family requests that monetary contributions be made to the Jody Dufour Longoria Memorial Scholarship at St. Joseph Catholic School, 119 West Fay Street in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
