Miguel Longoria, 85, passed on Monday, June 13, 2022, at The Bridges at Mission.
He is preceded in death by his three siblings, Fred Longoria, Ruben Longoria and Viola
Silva. He was a lifelong resident of Edinburg. However, he did live in Rio Grande City
for approximately 4 years in conjunction with his employment with AEP (formerly
Central Power and Light). Mickey was a graduate of the Edinburg High School Bobcats
Class of 1956-and excelled in playing sports; especially football. The local newspaper
at the time described him as the “master of the breakaway run” and once stated that
“The Bobcats have a Star”. Upon graduation, he served 4 years with the United State
Air Force National Guard.
Mickey was married to Angelita Longoria; his high school sweetheart. He was a
wonderful husband and father. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing sports, and always
having a good time. He truly believed Laughter was the best medicine. He spent many
days actively involved with his grandchildren as it brought great joy to him.
Mr. Longoria is survived by his wife, Angelita Longoria; three children, Arnoldo Longoria,
Ricky (Michelle) Longoria, Nora Landavazo; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Arlene)
Longoria, Dr. Katarina (Lydia) Longoria-Gray, Kristina Longoria, Richard Longoria, Ryan
Longoria, Brianna Landavazo, Brittany Landavazo, Michael Landavazo; three great-
granchildren, Matthew Longoria, Natalie Longoria, Austin Michael Longoria-Gray; two
siblings, Olga De Roule and Charlie Longoria.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Wednesday, June 15, 2022,
at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at
10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Cremation
will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg. Military honors will be
conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
