Santos "Sandy" Lopez Jr.

Santos "Sandy" Lopez Jr., 75, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at his residence in Edinburg, surrounded by family.
Santos was a retired U.S. Army Veteran who actively served in the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne Division. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Pan American College and was employed by The Texas Department of Human Services, as well as numerous local RGV home health agencies. Mr. Lopez was an active sportsman who loved saltwater bay fishing and South Texas Hunting. He enjoyed partaking in these pastimes with close family and friends, as well as mentoring his children, grandchildren, sons-in-law, and numerous nephews. He was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Santos Lopez Sr. and Consuelo Morado Lopez.
Mr. Lopez is survived by his wife, Esperanza Lopez; four children, Carl (Enedelia) Lopez, Tanya (Cyrus) Hernandez, Tahlia (Roel) Arevalo, Teylene (Ray) Chavez; eleven grandchildren, Taylor, Kendall, Jacquilene, Andrea, Diego, Carolina, Victoria, Christian, Camille, Colt, Collins; eight siblings, Rosalinda Lopez, Arturo Lopez, Ricardo Lopez, Hector Lopez, Al Lopez, Cynthia Lopez-Morin, Robert Lopez, and Blanca Lilia Rangel.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Memorial Event Center, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
