Mary R. Bridges Lopez

MARY R. BRIDGES LOPEZ EDINBURG — Mary R. Bridges Lopez, 73, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Paxvilla Hospice and Palliative Care in McAllen. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mona Bridges. Mary is survived by her husband, Hildebrando "Brando" Lopez of San Isidro, four children, Donna Rebecca "Becky" Lopez of Edinburg, Hildebrando "Brandy" Lopez, Jr. of McAllen, Dora "Lisa" (Joel) Garza of Mission, Jerome Rene (Jozi) Lopez of Edinburg, six grandchildren, Dustin (Angelica), Derek, Matt, Troy, Hailey, Tannah; two sisters, Ailene (Gerard) Austin and Sarah (Bill) Cardin; her dog, Angel; her parrot, Tex; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ruth Bridges met her husband in Barksdale, LA Air Force Base. Hildebrando had Mary laughing from the very beginning and he was captivated by the young beauty. They married on February 12, 1962. The family settled down in San Isidro, TX enjoying a peaceful and interesting life on the ranch. Mary completed her nursing degree at Pan American University and worked at various places which include: Willacy County Hospital, Starr County Hospital, Hemodialysis, Tropical Texas MHMR, APC Home Health, Beverly Home Health, Consultant for Nursing Home, Prior approval and PASARR Nurse for the Texas Dept. of Aging. Besides raising their four children, Mary and Brando enjoyed numerous animals on their ranch. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., with a 6 p.m. celebration of life Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. The family would like to give special thanks to Delores and Carlos Lopez, Esperanza Torres and Grace Reyes, and Heliodoro Lopez for their constant love and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Palm Valley Animal Center 2501 W. Trenton Rd. Edinburg, TX 78539. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
