JOE R. LUCIO
ALAMO - Joe R. Lucio, 82, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Solara Hospital in McAllen.
Mr. Lucio was born in San Benito and had lived in Alamo all of his life. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during World War II.
He is preceded in death by first wife, Elva Lucio; parents, Amancio and Beatriz Lucio; a son, Roy Lucio; and a brother, Abel Lucio.
Mr. Lucio is survived by his wife, Rosario Lucio, of Alamo; four children, Alicia Lucio Marroquin, of Temple, Texas, Rudy (Estela) Lucio, of Alamo, David Lucio, of Denver, Colorado, Belinda Lucio (Louie) Luna, of Edinburg; daughter-in-law, Terry Lucio, of Pharr; 13 grandchildren, Joe and Abraham Marroquin, Karina, Andy, Alyssa and Amanda Lucio, Eric and Laura Lucio, Samantha, Kathryn and Aaron Luna, Karissa and Sara Lucio; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Antonia Martinez, Josie Ramirez, both of Alamo; and a brother, Celedonio Lucio, of Alamo.
A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today, April 21, 2011, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr. Pallbearers will be Andres Lucio, Joe Marroquin, Abraham Marroquin, Johnny Veliz, John Lucio and Felix Castillo.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
