Gonzalo Luna

GONZALO "CHALO" LUNA EDINBURG - Gonzalo "Chalo" Luna, 78, died Thursday, October 22, 2015, at his residence in Edinburg. Mr. Luna was born in Edinburg and had lived there all of his life. Gonzalo was a 20 year retired ECISD Security Officer, and had also worked for the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department. His love for his family, devotion to his job and his life is a reflection of the man he was. He will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gustavo and Antonia Luna; a brother, Dr. Jesus "Chuy" Luna; and a sister, Gloria Rodriguez. Gonzalo is survived by his wife, Esperanza Luna of Edinburg; three sons, George (Estella) Luna of Rowlett, TX, Jaime Luna of Dallas, TX, Ruben Luna of Edinburg; a daughter, Elda (Joel) Rios; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four brothers, Gumaro (Maria Isabel) Luna, Ricardo (Terri) Luna, Oscar (Sylvia) Luna, Romeo Luna; and four sisters, Zulema (Anselmo) Garcia, America (Adan) Garcia, Lucia (+Gilberto) Garcia, Maria (Santos) Ramirez. A rosary was held Friday, October 23, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon today, October 24, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg is in charge of arrangements.
