LINO LUNA SAN JUAN – Lino Luna, 75, died Thursday, November 22, 2012, at Solara Hospital in McAllen. Born in Weslaco, Mr. Luna had lived in San Juan since 1985. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and served two tours in Vietnam. He is preceded in death by two sons, Albert Luna and Oscar Luna; a sister, Irene De La Cerda; three brothers, Juan Lopez, Benancio Luna, Domingo Luna; and his parents, Maria Reyes and Otilio Luna. Mr. Luna is survived by his wife, Irene Luna, of San Juan; seven children, Lino (Cynthia) Luna Jr., Rose Marie Luna, both of Palmview, Linda (Zabiel) Sanchez, of McAllen, Estefana Luna, of Washington, Isabel (Wayne) Parsons, of Manteca, California, Idalia (Roberto) Gongora, of San Juan, SFC Ricardo (Jessica) Sanchez, of Wasilla, Alaska; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Loreta Lopez, Margarita Luna, both of Waukegan, Illinois, Rosario Lucio, of Alamo; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Entombment of cremated remains will be at 10 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2012, at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
