ALDEN WILLIAM LYCKMAN
EDINBURG - Alden William Lyckman, 81, went to meet the Lord, Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
He was born as one of four children, in Cadillac Texas near Pawnee, to Aldrick and Mabel Lyckman. He graduated from Pawnee High School and received a scholarship to Texas A&I. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and afterward worked in the oilfield for the next 39 years, becoming an oil rig supervisor, aka Tool Pusher.
He married Janie Ann Barrington and is preceded in eternal resting by his wife in 1983, two sisters Hazel McCullough and Katherine Baker.
Mr. Lyckman is survived by two children, both who graduated from Baylor University, his son, Alden W. Lyckman Jr. of McAllen and daughter, Brenda Sharyl Lyckman of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by one sister, Grace LeMier and an aunt, Ruby Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, today, February 20, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 11 am, Monday, February 21, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Trevor Carpenter. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Pallbearers will be Steve Baker, Brian Baker, Edward Monson, David LeMier, Bruce Reynolds, and Harlan Specht. Honorary pallbearers will be Treeman Baker, Tommy McCullough, Temple Baker and Cole Baker.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
