Maria Luisa Garcia, 85, entered eternal rest peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in Edinburg.
Maria Luisa, "Mary", born and raised in Edinburg Texas, worked with ECISD at Stephen F Austin, where she also attended elementary as a child, and later moved to Lamar Elementary where she retired from, after 30 plus years. She was a dedicated paraprofessional.
As a mom, she unconditionally loved her three sons and four daughters, providing them with a moral compass and a work ethic to succeed in life.
She was a devoted wife, extraordinary mom, loving grandmother, incredible aunt, caring cousin, and a hard-working Individual. She enjoyed time with family and always looked forward to Las Vegas vacation trips with her better half. She will be greatly missed. Her legacy continues through her love and memories.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Manuel Garcia Sr.; son, Antonio Manuel Garcia Jr.; parents, Jose Luis and Francisca G. Trejo; maternal grandparents, Jose and Josefa C. Guzman; two siblings, Olga Garza and Jose Luis Trejo Jr.; and aunt/confident, Estella Cantu.
Mrs. Garcia is survived by her six children, Eva Alicia (Rick) Huerta, Maribel (Miguel) Saenz, Imelda Sanchez, Rosa Maria Mendoza, Alberto Luis (Jackie) Garcia, Omar (Adela) Garcia; brother, Lalo Reyes; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral procession will depart from Memorial Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, for a 10 a.m. funeral service at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
