Mario Rodriguez

Mario “Nino” Rodriguez, 68, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at McAllen Medical Center.
Mr. Rodriguez was an educator for over 38 years. Most of his teaching career was with Edinburg CISD, where he later retired. Mario loved his students and was passionate about his profession. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Mario was loved by everyone whose life he touched. He was very giving, humble, compassionate, and caring. He was also very strong in his faith. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marcos and Hortencia F. Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his four siblings, Mary Lou Rodriguez, Mary Ann (Jose Alfredo) Galvan, Margarito (Mireya) Rodriguez, Martha Rodriguez; five nephews and two nieces, Jesus Ramon Garza, Michael Garza, Mary Magdalene Garza, Gerardo Garza, Steve Galvan, Felicia Brownlee, Eric Galvan; a goddaughter, Emilia Gonzalez; and several godsons and goddaughters.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in San Carlos. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
